Princeton Record Exchange has been buying thousands of music and movie collections since 1980. We buy personal collections, estate collections, reviewer/radio station surplus, and entire store inventories of CDs, DVDs, LPs, video games, and other audio and video formats; No collection is too large! As an active member in the Better Business Bureau, we are committed to treating our customers professionally with prompt payment for collections.

Please Note: We would love to evaluate your collection, and will give you an appraisal, but be aware that there are many titles that we cannot use due to lack of demand, overstock, or condition quality.

Selling your CDs:

We typically pay from $1.00 to $4.00 for most full length CDs, based on popularity of artist, title and condition. There are thousands of CDs that we are happy to pay $3.00 to $4.00 for, but we may offer you less than $1.00 for some poor-sellers.

To get top-dollar, the CDs must be in excellent shape; no scratches on the discs, cracks in the cases, or rips in the liner notes.

We buy Rock, Jazz, Classical, Alternative, Metal, Techno and just about every other genre of music.

Selling your DVDs

We pay up to $4.00 per disc for most feature-length movies ( more for some deluxe issues such as Criterion Collection editions). As with CDs, when selling DVDs, the discs, liner notes and cases must be in excellent condition to get full price.

We are interested in all genres including adventure, thriller, horror, sci-fi, drama, Disney, foreign and much more.

Selling your LPs

We typically pay from 50 cents to $2.00 for strong-selling LPs. Please Note: while many LPs are of great interest to us, the vast majority of those in today's market have little to no monetary value. The fastest and easiest way of determining the general value of your collection is to call us.

We are always looking for sought-after titles, and there are some rarities that fetch $10.00 to $100.00 or more. On the other hand, there are some LPs that we can not use at all because they are scratched, weak-sellers, or we have too many of them. LPs that are scratched, scuffed, or moldy will get only a fraction of our top prices. We base our offer on supply and demand, conditions of vinyl and cover, as well as other market conditions.

Sorry, we do not buy or sell 78s.

There are too many details relating to the LP market to list on this page. For more specific info, please see our selling LPs info page, or call us at 609-924-3472 to discuss your collection.

While we buy many CD and DVD collections through the mail, most LP collections that we buy come from customers that live within 2-3 hours from Princeton, NJ. You are welcome to fill out our sell records questionnaire or call us to discuss your collection, but please be aware that most records do not have a high enough value to make shipping worth while. It is generally best to bring them to our Princeton, NJ store, but we do recommend that you speak with one of our appraisers first, or see LP genres of interest to us and LPs we have little interest in to make sure we don't waste your time.

Selling your Video Games

We are always looking to enhance our Collection of video games. We pay from $2.00 to $8.00 dollars per game for many PS2, PS3, Wii, Gamecube, PSP, XBOX 360 and XBOX games. We are only interested in games from current platforms.

Selling your Laser Disc collection

We still pay 25 to 50 cents each for many Laser Discs. We are uncertain how long we will continue to buy Laser Discs due to the expanding market for DVDs and CDs. Because of their relatively low value, we will only buy these at our store; sorry, no mail collections.

Selling your SACD (Super Audio CD), DVD Audio (DVD-A), and other audio formats

We are very interested in increasing our selection of emerging formats, such as SACD and DVD Audio. We pay up to $4 per disc depending on the title and our existing inventory.
